Bathroom renovation when floor joist are not engineered for plumbing

remodels in Fairbanks AlaskaAbove the kitchen we put in a dormer bathroom. The floor joists were only 2X10 and spanned 12 feet unsupported.  For this reason I did not want to drill holes for drains and supply lines in those joists.

Instead, I had the plumbers run the lines parallel with and between the joists.  The lines then dropped down below the wall as seen above.

We built, insulated for sound, and sheetrocked a soffit to cover the drains and supplies. A nice, clean solution for plumbing when no cuts can be made to floor joists.
